2. Why must I ask those parents I know well for their child’s pick up tag?
First, we must consider guests and the fact that we don’t know every person who attends Crossings! In the rush of parent pick up time, there is a crowd of parents. If my best friend is there to pick up her child and she says she doesn’t have the tag. I say “it’s ok, I know you, go ahead and take Suzie home.” Next face in line behind her is someone who I don’t know. Who just overheard that exchange. They too have misplaced their tag. Now, I need to tell them the policy to go to check in and reprint a parent tag. This situation is very realistic. What we do for one we must do for all.
Secondly, child custody disputes happen. If you are in the habit of asking for the parent tag every time, no matter who it is, it will ensure that the child goes home with the parent he came with.
During parent pick up, be in the habit of asking every parent for the parent tag.
If a parent has forgotten or lost the tag, they need to head to the check in and receive a new one.
